week 19 – #21 It Happens Over Time

At one time this was probably a beautiful new boat but over time it came to look like this

In my imagination and with a little help from my software this is what I think this photo would look like if it were an old print  that sat around for about fifty years.

Week 19- #24 Long Exposure

This was taken during an outing with the Lakewood Ranch Digi Photo Club.  We had a lot of fun that night and if it weren’t for the group outing you wouldn’t have gotten me to go out under that bridge in the dark.  It was creepy walking around there but I’m glad I went because I love the reflections on the water in this shot.

Week 18 – #16 Group Portraits

Last post I mentioned that during January I was visiting NJ.  No, I hadn’t lost my mind and no, thankfully no one had died.  But yeah!  my godmother celebrated her 90th birthday and my cousins threw a party for her.  Now THAT is an excellent reason to make a trek to NJ in the winter.

My godmother is my father’s sister.   There were four brothers and four sisters in that family who were close as can be.  The number of first cousins is somewhere in the twenties.  I don’t know what the number is because it was and still is always in flux.  This family got together frequently and we were and still are one rowdy crowd.

For this photo a call for all the cousins on my aunt’s side was made.  Now this sounds like a nice simple request, but it was not.  It was loud, lots of shouting and craziness, someone was always saying something snarky to someone else and someone was cracking up.  I have no idea who took my camera to take this shot but I’m grateful to have it, even if it’s out of focus, it’s still a great memory for me (I’m on the floor, fourth from the right)

Now when they called for the members of uncle’s side of the family what a difference.  They were so quiet and polite.  They do not know how to have fun.

group_edited-1This was not the only party going on that weekend.

Over at my niece’s house her daughter was having a sleepover for her birthday.  Back in the day when I went to a sleepover you wore your junky clothes and just hung out so you can imagine how surprised I was to see these girls, yes girls, these kids are still in high school, wearing their little black dresses.  Boy how things have changed.

week 16 – Winter Landscape

It’s been forever since I’ve made a post here or even looked at what’s going on in any of my fellow bloggers sites.  It’s time to catch up a little.  So if you’re subscribed here you may see more than a post a week, or not.

I grew up in NJ and never liked winter, and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER dreamed of a white Christmas.  My mother had to push me out the door and lock it behind me to get me to play in that white crap.  As I grew older I learned how to skate, sled, ski or whatever snow sport my friends wanted to drag me into and have been to the ER for all of them.  Moving to a snow free climate was always a part of my plan and now that I am living in sunny Florida I couldn’t be happier.

So why is it that just about any necessary visit to NJ is usually during the cold months?  My last visit was in January.   I was lucky, it didn’t snow while I was there but there was some residual stuff hanging around.

Don’t you just love how the shovel was just thrown to the side in abandon.  If you’ve ever had to dig out the driveway to get out for work in the morning you know this feeling.
